Babylon

I didn't see the setting of these words by William Walton mentioned. His
choral work "Balshazzar's Feast" always comes to mind when I read the
postings on this thread. 'Tis a magnificent bit of music, especially if
one likes BIG choral performances.
There is a slightly different inference towards the infanticide reference:
"Thy sons that thou shall beget shall be taken away and made Eunuchs in the
palace of the King of Babylon. .....happy are they, etc." The inference
is that the chilldren killed will be spared a life of slavery.
My wife and I sang in a performance of this in May, with a 90 voice chorus
and the augmented local (Lynchburg, VA) symmphony. Not exactly folk music.
The only thing we have done that comes close is the "Carmina Burana".
