Is it possible to take plans for a nylon harp and make a wire
strung harp from them? From previous discussions on the List, it seems to
be a varying opinion on the string tension difference between the two, but
the general concensus seemed to be that there was about the same tension
for wire and nylon. I guess my question is : How much different is the
construction? I would imagine that there must be more to it than just
stringing wire on it and drilling a bunch of soundholes down the front!
The main reason is there may be an opportunity for me to have a
harp made for me by a fellow, but he has only ever built nylon ones. I was
really hoping for a wire strung one, and would like to know if I was asking
for something outrageously difficult for him to try a wire strung one...
Thanks afor-hand (or a-six hand, or a-ten hand)
Cari!
