I was incorrect in saying that the king danced the strathspey. The
actual quote from G. Neil's 1653 reprint of Zachary Boyd's Flowers of
Zion (1632) p.xxx is "To please the King, the Morrice-dance I will:
Stravespey, and after, last of all, the Drunken Dance I'll dance
within that hall."

The term Strathspey Reel was mentioned. At one time, there appears to
have been the phrase "Strathspey Minuet" as in Lady Calderwood's
comment (1756) "Lady Hellen and Lord Garless danced a strathspey
minuet."
