About the cat problem, I've had a lot of success with tin foil- aluminium
foil to Americans . I have trained several cats to stay away from both the
harp and one chair in my house for allergic persons by spreading it out on
the chair, or under the harp. I put a quilt underneath with the harp for
maximum crinkle power. I've had a cat-explosion before (three people dropped
off mom cats during the night in the same week, and they all had big litters
the next week) and not met any that were not deterred by this, but, being
cats, I'm sure there are some. So, when we stop by your place will we see
your harp, in a shady corner, covered with a dropcloth of clear plastic with
water droplets on the outside, sitting on a blanket of tinfoil with orange,
lemon, lime and grapefruit peels artfully arranged around the bottom (maybe
you could throw in a couple of komquats for interest?) Next to that will we
see a contented cat- sleeping with a broken harp string between her paws?
Blessings on your attempt to live peacefully with your masters, pet.
