Dear goddess, how could you?
Do you know what declawing _is_? They chop off the _entire_ front half of
the cat's foot!!!
It's brutal.
The ASPCA is deadset against it and is trying (here, at least) to get it
made illegal. It's cruelty to animals. If you can't keep them from
clawing (you might also want to get them a scratching post), and can't
live with them doing so if you can't, you shouldn't have cats. At all.

It is a horrible thing to do to any cat.

There's a MUCH better idea.

Any cat who has enough other things to scratch won't scratch what you
don't want to if they like the other thing better - also try filling a
squirt bottle with _water_ - nothing else - and squirting them when they
do something wrong... it annoys them and they don't like it, but it
doesn't hurt them.
