Believe it or not, a sleeping bag, old comforter, quilt, works reasonably
well... with duct tape. I know it is not attractive, and you wouldn't have
any handles, (well maybe you could fashion some of some kind), but in a
pinch, this will cushion your harp from any bumps or nicks.

I have a Triplett 30-string (wire) and prior to getting my soft sided carryin
case, I used wrap it in an old comfortor. I would lay the quilt down on the
floor, set the harp in the middle, bring the bottom and top ends over first,
then the sides, I would tack it down with some heavy duty tape.
