I'm in the UK so it might be slightly different here. I have taken my full
size orchestral harp on the train. It is a hassle and not something I would
recommend if there is an alternative (like driving). Basically I had to hire
an estate car taxi to get it to the station, load it on the train, change
trains and platforms and load it on to a train with small doorways. The
whole process took 2 hours more than it would normally. However my harp is
6ft and has an extended soundboard and is really heavy - so it should be
easier with a Dusty Strings 32. I would advise ringing up the station before
you do try this to warn them that you wish to travel with a harp and to ask
if it costs any extra. BR were really helpful - I didn't have to pay any
extra and they warned the train crew that I would be there to make sure that
I had help getting it on the train.
Be warned - if you do take by train you will get a lot of comments and funny
looks
