thanks so much for all the advice. Fred, yours was especially
comforting, and nelson's was very helpful. I've called around
(Gryphon, Guitar showcase, and brian Trankle- a middle-man for Calzone
i presume) and found that anybody who'd ever even heard of hard cases
for harps had only heard of calzone. they've given me an estimate of
$400-$500, which seems reasonable compared to the costs of shipping 8
times. (there and back for every summer) Plus this way my harp can
come home for christmas, too. And though it looks like calzone might
be my only choice, i wanted to double check two things with the all-
knowing, all- wise harpers on-line :)
1- sue richards and kevin kinney both mentioned kortier cases. Are
these just very durable soft cases, or are they plywood, etc. like
calzone? (they sounded much cheaper- a good thing. where can i get
one? how fast? will they take it on a plane?)
2-nelson mentioned that calzone cases are ATA certified, does this
garuntee that they'll take it on the plane? someone else mentioned
having the airline take it as freight- this might come accross as very
blond, but- what's that mean? (will it get there when i do? is it on a
different plane, or same plane w/ an extra charge for its size?)
does anyone know of anywhere other than calzone i could get a case?
thanks again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
