Re: BraveHeart/music programs

Even though I work with computers all-day-every-day I have to admit that I have
lost patience with all of the scoring programs I've tried. Part of it is that
my understanding of all the musical terminology and symbology is sketchy and
when I want to write something down, I want to write it down NOW! For a
computer graphics person to admit that she can't tolerate the learning curve of
a music program is pretty embarrassing.

What I usually do is write the stuff down by hand in my own very strange little
music shorthand that has developed over 30 years of trying to avoid sheet
music, and then I go to staff paper and write the whole thing out there. Slow,
and not automated (I have a Mont Blanc pencil that was a gift - I call it my
magic pencil) but I'm gradually learning how to write things down.

I'm on a Macintosh - the last "so-called" scoring program I bought either
didn't do treble and bass at the same time, or I was so poor at reading the
manual I never got beyond writing out a simple melody line. (Now, that's even
more embarrassing, because I write manuals!)

I need a scoring program for dummies - anyone got any good suggestions?
