I response to Rita who wrote asking how long we have played and the extent of
our repertoire, I have been playing now for about 6 weeks, and I can play 9
songs that I would feel reasonably comfortable playing for someone else.
Four of those songs are one page in length (not including repeats). I have
a classical piano background and have played since I was 6. I have always
been fascinated by the harp, so at the age of 40 I decided that I wasn't
getting any younger and that I should do something about that fascination. I
am truly loving it. The most frustrating part is having the musical
knowledge and looking at a very simple piece of music, yet the fingers aren't
trained yet and choose to do some very interesting things at times. I know
this will come with time, practice, and perserverance. Anything worth doing
takes time. My next goal is to build my own harp. Maybe next winter when
the snow is past our mailbox. Elaine
