Dean Markley pickups on Harps

A little late for the original thread, but I've been away travelling
again; anyway,Dean Markley pickups are made to be stuck on the smooth
outer soundboards of guitars, and most harp soundboards are not glossy
enough for the thin layer of sticky on the pickup. The unvarnished
inside of a harp soundboard is even less likely to hold them. I have
seen some that worked successfully inside the harp using double-
sided carpet tape from a hardware store. Though they will work on a
harp, I think they sound a little mid-range'y; there isn't that 'real
harp' presence and clarity - kind of like using a vocal mike with the
harp, instead of an instrument mike ?? Good enough for noisy rooms,
but not for a studio recording.
From the original thread on this, yes, I'mthe guy who wrote the
article in Winter '95 FHJ. There is a version of it on the Web at
http://www-leland.stanford.edu/~srpen/amping.html
(or, via the "Harper's Home" home page),or I could E-mail copies to
the Web-less ?
